PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy sometimes also know as Vampire facelift or even Dracula Therapy, is an innovative Approach to anti-ageing, which uses your body’s own healing process to rejuvenate and restore the skin.
PRP Therapy has widely been used for treatment of burns and other skin ailments and has more recently been used for facial rejuvenation due to the rejuvenating qualities in the Plasma which is extracted from the blood.
Our medical doctors will extract a small amount of the patient's bloods normally around 10 to 20ml, similar to having a blood test. The extracted blood is then placed into a centrifuge and then spun for a short time. During this process the platelets will become extracted from the red blood cells. In order to make the treatment process more comfortable for our patients, our medical doctor will normally apply a topical anaesthetic at this time to the face, décolletage or neck (or other treatment area).
The extracted PRP is then injected into the patient using a very fine needle. As the PRP is constituted from the patient's own blood there virtually no risk of a reaction. For a more intensive treatment the PRP can also be administered during Dermapen and Dermal Roller treatment. When injected into the skin, a multitude of growth factors are released which stimulate surrounding cells to start the healing cascade. This in turn encourages the production of collagen and preadipocyte cells to plump and add volume. The amazing healing properties of PRP are not just limited to facial rejuvenation. Due to the cell rejuvenation effects of PRP It can also be used in treatment of osteoporosis and arthritis.
PRP therapy for hair loss is a treatment that involves withdrawing a patient's own blood, processing it so that only the enriched cells (platelet-rich plasma) remain, and injecting it into the scalp. PRP contains essential proteins that stimulate natural hair growth.
